Anoeska Huige: Eggplants

Anoeska Huige has worked as an artist in the Nieuwmarkt neighborhood for more than 15 years; recently she chose oil paint as a medium.
From August 29 to October 30, 2026 she presents her first series of works in oil paint, 24 paintings of eggplants in Café Bern.
Feel free to drop by. Between 4 and 6 p.m. in the afternoon you can come and see the exhibition at your ease. Or in the evening after 11 p.m., when the biggest crowds are over and a wonderfully relaxed “after hours” atmosphere has descended over Café Bern.

Anoeska Huige
1973
Anoeska Huige (1973) is a visual artist and animator.
In addition to creating her own work, she is also the founder of the Animation Bus, actively participating in making animated films at schools and festivals.
Regarding the theme of this exhibition: with its flirty character, the eggplant in Anoeska’s work stands for individuality. Around the Middle Ages, the eggplant found its way to our cuisines via Arab trade routes and also tells a story of connected cultures.
