Paula Huizenga

Enschede, 1953

As an artist, Paula Huizenga practices multiple disciplines.

In the years ’80 she started at the Wackers Academy, where she learned to paint with oil paint.

Yet it turned out to be too ambitious and she was put off by the endless possibilities of paint and an empty canvas. She was able to express herself more easily by working with material. After a number of part-time courses in ceramics and silversmithing, Paula noted that she liked the possibilities of clay or silver better and that the limitations of material, budget, time or assignment gave her the freedom to think and go. This allowed her to switch off her mind and work intuitively.

Paula has started painting again for about 3 years, this time with acrylic and she noticed that she can now also work with paint more intuitively, put a painting to her will and take the freedom of work she loves. Finally she found the pleasure of painting that she had been looking for such a long time.
