Lotus Krabbé: Urban tales

May 4 – September 7, 2024 in Café Bern

Urban tales” is the title of a selection of drawings that Lotus Krabbé (Amsterdam, 2001) is exhibiting in Café Bern, from 4 May to September 7, mainly drawings she made in the past year. Many of the drawings were made in and around Café Bern, where Lotus has been working for over a year now. We therefore take pride that her work will adorn our walls these weeks.

Please feel free to drop by. From 4:00-6:00 p.m. you can come and see the exhibition at your ease. Or late at night, after 11:00 p.m., when the rather busy dinner time has finished and a lovely relaxed “after hours” atmosphere has descended on Café Bern.

Below you can already have a preview of some of the works exhibited at Café Bern.

Lotus Krabbé

Amsterdam, 2001

At the age of 18, Lotus Krabbé (instead of studying) started traveling and she hasn’t stopped doing that ever since. She gets a lot of inspiration from those trips.

But of course most of the time Lotus is just here, in Amsterdam. Sometimes she almost forgets what intrigues her about Amsterdam. This selection of drawings acts as a reminder for herself; as a: “O yes: this is it!

Lotus Krabbé is self-taught. She paints and draws a lot; and she has been drawing everything around her for as long as she can remember: daily scenes, her friends, acquaintances or strangers.

Her sketchbook is actually her diary. This exhibition offers us a glimpse into that.
