Piet Hein Haverkamp: paintings and cyanotypes

August 23 – October 10, 2025 in Café Bern

From August 23 to October 10, 2025 Piet Hein Haverkamp exhibits a new series of paintings on panel (30 x 40 cm) in Café Bern; paintings consisting of a tempera underlay and several layers of oil paint. The technique is classic, the images are contemporary.

In addition, cyanotypes can be seen: blueprints, chemistry and lighting with a UV light box that together form the image.

Please feel free to drop by. From 4:00-6:00 p.m. you can come and see the exhibition at your ease. Or late at night, after 11:00 p.m., when the rather busy dinner time has finished and a lovely relaxed “after hours” atmosphere has descended on Café Bern.

Below you can already have a preview of some of the works exhibited at Café Bern.

Piet Hein Haverkamp

Piet Hein Haverkamp is a visual artist from Amsterdam who works with oil paint, acrylic and cyanotype.

In his work he experiments freely, without committing to one theme or style, and he constantly explores the limits of his imagination. He works carefully, with attention to technique, material and image.

A special work is the ‘Astronaut triptych’, created from an experiment with a locally running AI software (Pinokio) where own and online found images have been combined. And then painted on wooden panels. Craft and technology blend effortlessly into this.

The older work shows a wider variety of styles and techniques and thus offers an insight into his artistic development over the years.

The exhibition in Café Bern offers a versatile insight into the work of Piet Hein Haverkamp: intuitive and investigative, traditional and experimental. His paintings and cyanotypes show an artist who knows how to connect tradition and innovation in a personal way. Well worth a visit.
